Google India VP Predicts Artificial Intelligence Will Eliminate Privilege Barriers in 2023
Today, on October 19, the 9th edition of Google for India, an annual event dedicated to India and its users, was held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. Prior to the event, Google announced its intention to unveil its vision for India’s future. The event showcased the potential of generative AI and its advantages for Indian users.
The event started with a short video that highlighted the timeline from when India just got internet access to today where Indian users are leveraging AI in their daily tasks. Scott Beaumont, President of Google APAC, took the stage at the beginning. He began by highlighting how far India has come since the days when the internet just arrived in the country. Beaumont said today, 45 percent of India uses an Android smartphone.
Generative AI – The next ignition moment
Sanjay Gupta, VP, Google India, took the stage to talk about generative AI in the next flash. He said that many invisible toll gates are preventing Indians from realizing their digital dream. These include language barriers, market access and lack of sources of capital.
He added that generative AI can eliminate these toll gates. Language translation can help users cross language barriers, dynamic supply reduction can improve small businesses and bring about sweeping changes in operations, and timely capital transfers from legitimate lenders can help small businesses expand.
“Generative AI is being leveraged in India in four key areas – building partnerships for Google, improving online security, increasing access to formal credit and increasing access to AI,” Gupta added.
